Agent

Finance policy & controls desk

Finance spends a good part of its week telling the rest of the business what the rule is. This agent answers those questions from the policy set you connect, covering spend limits, approval routes, expense rules and the control that applies, and cites the document behind each answer. Anything that needs interpretation goes to the controller.

How it runs

Step by step

01

Index the finance policy set

Finance policies, delegated authority tables and control descriptions are indexed from the sources you connect.

02

Answer where the policy is clear

A question about a threshold or an approval route is answered by quoting the policy and linking to it.

03

Name the version that applies

The answer says which policy and which version it used, so a reader can tell whether a rule changed since they last asked.

04

Separate quoting from interpreting

Where an answer would mean reading between the lines, the agent says so rather than offering a view of its own.

05

Route the hard questions on

Interpretation questions go to the financial controller with the relevant policy text already attached, so the reply is quick to write.

06

The controller approves interpretations

Any answer that goes beyond quoting the policy is written and approved by the controller, not by the agent.

The harness

Exactly what this agent can see, touch and change

The same five controls sit behind every ollo agent. These are this one's settings — visible before you build it, not buried in an admin screen afterwards.

Context

What reaches the model

Finance teams supporting budget holders across the business, where the same threshold and expense questions arrive every week from people who cannot find the policy.

Escalation

When it asks a person

The financial controller approves any answer that interprets a policy rather than quoting it

Verification

How you know it’s right

Every claim links to the document it came from. A statement the agent cannot cite does not make it into the output — which is what makes the result reviewable in minutes rather than re-read end to end.

Who it’s for

Finance teams supporting budget holders across the business, where the same threshold and expense questions arrive every week from people who cannot find the policy.

What you’ll need

  • A current finance policy set
  • The delegated authority table
  • An agreed list of interpretation topics
  • A controller on rota to approve

What you get

  • Cited policy answers in the channel
  • A queue of interpretation questions
  • A log of questions the policy does not cover

What it doesn’t do

It quotes your policies. It is not regulatory or tax advice, it does not approve spend, and it cannot tell you whether a control is well designed, only what your documents say it is.

How you get it

We build the first one with you

Not a template you configure alone. We sit with your team, build it on real data, and hand over the controls.

01

Scope

One session with the people who actually do the work. We agree what the agent reads, what it may write, and who approves.

02

Co-build

Built on your own data, not a sandbox. You watch it being made, so you know why it behaves the way it does.

03

Handover

You own the controls. Change the context, tighten the rights, move the approval gate — without coming back to us.

What it replaces

Parts of the work currently spread across the categories below. It does not replace any of those products outright.

Frequently asked

Is this regulatory advice?

No. It retrieves and quotes documents you have connected, including any external guidance you hold a copy of. It does not interpret regulation, and questions that need interpretation are routed to your controller or your adviser.

Can it approve a purchase or an expense?

No. It can tell a budget holder which threshold applies and who the approver is. The approval itself happens in your own system, by the named person, exactly as it does now.

What if two policies conflict?

It shows both, with dates, and flags the conflict for finance. It does not pick the one that looks more recent, because the effective date and the document date are often not the same thing.

How current are the answers?

It reads the live source, so a policy updated this morning changes the next answer. The log of unanswered questions tells finance which policies are missing or unclear, which is usually where the real work is.
