Technical research memo
Most technical questions have been answered before, by somebody at your firm, in a memo nobody can find. This agent searches your guidance library, the prior advice you have given and the source material you have connected, then drafts the memo: the question, the position, the authority behind it and what remains open. A qualified adviser signs it before it counts as advice.
Step by step
Connect guidance and prior advice
Your internal technical library, the memos your firm has already written, and the licensed source material you subscribe to.
Set the memo structure
Facts, question, analysis, position, open points: the shape your firm already uses for technical advice.
The adviser states the question
The facts go in as the adviser would set them out, including the parts that are not yet certain.
It searches and drafts
The agent finds what your firm has said before and what the connected source material says, then writes the draft with a citation under each statement.
It marks what is unresolved
Where the material is silent, conflicting or out of date, the agent says so and stops rather than closing the gap with a confident paragraph.
A qualified adviser approves
The memo is a draft until a qualified adviser has checked every citation and signed it. Nothing reaches a client before that.
Exactly what this agent can see, touch and change
The same five controls sit behind every ollo agent. These are this one's settings — visible before you build it, not buried in an admin screen afterwards.

Applications & Rights
Which tools it uses, and what it may do in eachVerification
How you know it’s rightEvery claim links to the document it came from. A statement the agent cannot cite does not make it into the output — which is what makes the result reviewable in minutes rather than re-read end to end.
Who it’s for
Tax and technical teams answering a recurring type of question, and advisers who suspect the firm has answered this before but cannot find where.
What you’ll need
- The technical library and prior memos connected
- Licensed source material available to read
- Your memo structure agreed
- A qualified adviser to approve
What you get
- A cited first-draft memo
- A list of prior firm advice on the point
- A list of open or unresolved questions
What it doesn’t do
It drafts from what you connect. It does not confirm that the law or guidance is current, gives no advice in its own right, and where the material runs out it says so instead of filling the gap.
We build the first one with you
Not a template you configure alone. We sit with your team, build it on real data, and hand over the controls.
Scope
One session with the people who actually do the work. We agree what the agent reads, what it may write, and who approves.
Co-build
Built on your own data, not a sandbox. You watch it being made, so you know why it behaves the way it does.
Handover
You own the controls. Change the context, tighten the rights, move the approval gate — without coming back to us.
Parts of the work currently spread across the categories below. It does not replace any of those products outright.
Frequently asked
Can we rely on the position it drafts?
Not until an adviser has checked it, which is the whole point of the gate. Every statement carries its authority so the check is a reading job rather than a rewrite, but the professional judgement and the sign-off remain a person's.
Does it use licensed tax material?
Only what your firm already subscribes to and connects. It does not go and find sources you have no licence for, and it will tell you when the connected material does not reach the question.
What if our prior advice was wrong or has been superseded?
It surfaces prior advice with its date and marks where newer material disagrees. Finding the memos that need withdrawing is an uncomfortable but common early result.
Does the draft go to the client?
Never from the agent. It writes to a drafting folder and has no route to a client mailbox; the adviser decides what becomes advice and how it is worded when it goes out.
