Policy comparison & gaps

Two wordings that look alike on the summary page can differ in the places that matter, and finding those places is slow reading under time pressure. This agent compares the quoted wording against the expiring cover and against what the client asked for, and marks each difference with the clause behind it. The broker decides what the differences mean.

How it runs

Step by step

01

Connect expiring and quoted wordings

The expiring policy, the quoted wordings and any endorsements, connected as documents rather than summaries.

02

Agree what matters most

Cover, limits, excesses, conditions precedent, warranties, exclusions: the categories your firm always checks are set once.

03

It aligns the documents

Clauses covering the same ground are matched across wordings even where the drafting and the numbering differ.

04

It marks the differences

Each difference is set out side by side, with the clause reference on both sides so it can be read in context.

05

It separates the material ones

Differences that touch cover are listed apart from the drafting variations, and anything ambiguous is flagged as ambiguous.

06

The broker checks before it goes

No comparison reaches a client until the broker has read every flagged difference and confirmed how it should be described.

The harness

Exactly what this agent can see, touch and change

The same five controls sit behind every Askollo agent. These are this one's settings — visible before you build it, not buried in an admin screen afterwards.

Context

What reaches the model

Brokers and technical staff comparing quotes at renewal, and anyone who has to explain to a client why this year's wording is not last year's.

Escalation

When it asks a person

The broker checks every flagged difference before the comparison reaches the client

Verification

How you know it’s right

Every claim links to the document it came from. A statement the agent cannot cite does not make it into the output — which is what makes the result reviewable in minutes rather than re-read end to end.

Who it’s for

Brokers and technical staff comparing quotes at renewal, and anyone who has to explain to a client why this year's wording is not last year's.

What you’ll need

  • Expiring and quoted wordings connected
  • Your comparison categories agreed
  • A folder for the comparison document
  • A broker to check the flags

What you get

  • A clause-level comparison document
  • A list of material cover differences
  • A list of ambiguous drafting

What it doesn’t do

It shows differences between wordings, cited to the clause. It does not advise which cover to buy, does not confirm that cover is in place, and does not stand in for the broker's assessment of the client's demands and needs.

How you get it

We build the first one with you

Not a template you configure alone. We sit with your team, build it on real data, and hand over the controls.

01

Scope

One session with the people who actually do the work. We agree what the agent reads, what it may write, and who approves.

02

Co-build

Built on your own data, not a sandbox. You watch it being made, so you know why it behaves the way it does.

03

Handover

You own the controls. Change the context, tighten the rights, move the approval gate — without coming back to us.

What it replaces

Parts of the work currently spread across the categories below. It does not replace any of those products outright.

Frequently asked

Can it compare wordings from different insurers with different structures?

Yes, that is the job. It matches on what a clause does rather than where it sits, so a condition buried in a schedule is compared against the same condition in a general conditions section.

Does it tell the client which quote is better?

No. Better depends on what the client needs, which is advice. The agent produces the evidence a broker uses to give that advice, in a form the client can be walked through.

What about endorsements applied mid-term?

Connect them and they are read as part of the expiring position, which is where most surprises come from. Endorsements that sit only in an email thread are the common gap and the agent flags what it cannot find.

Is the output client-ready?

It is broker-ready. Most firms rewrite the material differences into their own client language after checking them, and the gate exists precisely so nothing is passed on unchecked.
